STAFF and children at the Leapfrog Neighbourhood Nursery will receive certificates tomorrow to mark their successful completion of a healthy initiative.

The Southsea nursery is one of 15 pre-schools in Portsmouth to have finished the Healthy Pompey Pre-School Challenge with flying colours since the scheme was launched last year.

Rachel Hatcher, Healthy Pompey programme manager, said: 'Three-quarters of Portsmouth's pre-schools and nurseries have signed up which shows their commitment to providing a healthy environment and good start in life for their children.'

Certificates will be awarded by healthy living mascot Healthy Harvey in recognition of the work undertaken over the course of this year which focuses on four key areas: healthy eating, being active, learning about where food comes from, and good dental practice.

Healthy Pompey is a programme run jointly by Portsmouth City Council and NHS Portsmouth to tackle obesity in the city.
