A group for music enthusiasts will celebrate a milestone and the end of an era on the same day.

The Association of Big Band Enthusiasts society celebrates everything musical from the 1940s and ’50s.

The group was set up by the White family as a place for friends and music-lovers to come together listen to their favourite records and discuss the meaning behind specific tracks.

The society, which meets on the first Friday of every month at St Colman’s Church, in Cosham, will celebrate its 40th anniversary on October 2.

The day has another significance, as it will be the last-ever meeting of the club.

With many of its members unable to attend recent meetings due to ill health, numbers have fallen drastically.

Group organiser Tony White wants to end the group on a high, bringing together former and current members for one last time.

Tony said anyone is welcome to join in the celebrations to give this group the send off it deserves.
