One who went down with his ship

I know there has been much on television and in national and local newspapers about the anniversary of the Battle of Jutland and I have found some of it hard reading to be honest. Although much was mentioned of the ships and how good or bad they were, very little was said about the men. I am glad to say most were mentioned in The News.

However, there were few photographs of the men who were lost, so I am glad to mention Petty Officer Henry Sheldon who died when HMS Queen Mary blew up and sank on May 31, 1916.

She went down with 1,266 of her company. Just 18 survived.

Harry and his family lived at Hardway, Gosport. His three children, who were all under five when their father was killed, went on to give wife Lizzie six grandchildren namely: Joy, Terence, Angela, Valerie, Penelope and Christopher.
