VERITY LUSH: Green shoots of recovery sprouting in northern Portsmouth

Have your say

I had a fab night out at Gunwharf Quays on Thursday, seeing the National Theatre’s live-ish production of War Horse being beamed from stage to cinema.

It was the first time that I’d been to one of these showings and I was delighted with the crowd (it was packed), the ice cream (Haagen-Dazs) and the fact that, mid-show, Michael Morpurgo appeared and talked about his original book, even though he was dressed all in red.

Honestly, you’d think that someone in the theatre would have told him it wasn’t the best look.

But we all forgave him as he’s such an amazing storyteller.

All in all, a great way to see theatre without all the hassle and expense of travelling to London.
