A lot of talent on show at Kings

Inquisitor: John Humphrys

ZELLA COMPTON: Why does John Humphrys still have a national platform?

Have your say

It really isn’t my favourite musical, but it’s good to support local talent.

Last Saturday I’d been invited by Dotty Deb to see Mack & Mabel performed by the students of Portsmouth Grammar School at the Kings Theatre.

Okay, hands up I dropped off twice in the first act. Awkward!

But I was a bit poorly, and although the show didn’t captivate me because I’ve never been that keen on it, I thought the performers were excellent.

At times I forgot the cast consisted of 13 to 17- year-olds, they were so professional.

The backdrop video screen and all the actors – but especially Ben Schofield as Mack Sennett –really went beyond my expectations.

I loved the show’s programme produced by the school. It had brilliant pictures and articles in sepia.
