A middle-aged cyclist pays homage to wonders of Lycra

Child refugees: more cash is needed from the government

COMMENT: Government needs to dig deep to find extra cash

I’ve been hitting the bike hard over the past few weeks. Trying to keep the ever-developing human papoose at bay.

I’m not sure if it’s the Bradley Wiggins and Chris Hoy effect from London 2012 or maybe Chris Froome’s fantastic win in this year’s Tour De France, but there are a lot more cyclists out on their treaders and that’s great to see.

In particular, the middle-aged peddler is in abundance.

Knees are shot from running, can’t be bothered with the gym – so the bike is a sensible option and there are some great routes at the back of the hill.

It’s at this stage that we should also praise the creators of Lycra.

That fabric is to middle-aged lard what the Hoover Dam is to water.
