Ireally enjoyed watching the National Television Awards this week. A huge pat on the back to Alan Carr, who rightly won the award for best talk show.

I’ve always admired Alan because he’s just himself. That might sound like an odd thing to be impressed about, but from the presenting work I’ve done I know how difficult it is.

When the camera is pointing at you and there’s a crew behind watching, to just be yourself with no awareness of your audience takes one heck of a skill.

Alan has got it down to a T. He talks to his guests and all those telly viewers out there as if he’s talking to a friend in his front room at home.

Well done Mr Carr – maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to join you in the studio and get some tips.
