My new superhero is Felix Baumgarter.
He dazzled us recently with his extraordinary sky dive 24 miles above the earth from Roswell, New Mexico.
The 43-year-old Austrian reached speeds of 833.9 mph and became the first person to break the sound barrier without the aid of a machine.
More than seven million of us held our breaths in astonishment as he ascended from a capsule attached to a helium balloon. At one point he appeared to be spinning out of control but managed to stabilise himself.
Afterwards, when interviewed, he showed us just what a humble down-to-earth guy he really is.
Felix is testament to the power of science, imagination and human bravery.
