Anyone who spent a special day at Little Chef can rejoice

It’s important the parade continues – but safely

Have your say

Little Chef taught me one of the most important lessons I’ve ever learnt about marriage, so I was sad to hear the roadside chain of restaurants is in peril.

As a nipper, my dad inadvertently passed on some pearls of wisdom about how to upset your other half, using a Little Chef on the A1 near Doncaster to illustrate his point.

While other families spent their 1986 Mother’s Day at a classy restaurant, my dad forgot to book anywhere and did the only thing he could think of. He piled three kids and a wife (looking to be treated like a queen for the day) into the back of the Austin Princess and we pulled up for a plate of chips.

Not even a Jubilee Pancake could make my mum smile.

So while I’m sad it’s over, she’s secretly rejoicing.
