Aren’t there jobs for them in Manchester or Yorkshire?

COMMENT: The return of good weather shouldn’t bring dread

Have your say

Have you noticed how many regional accents there are now on our local BBC TV news programme ‘South’ Today?

I’m hearing many more ‘affters’ and ‘past’ than before.

As we all know, the correct pronunciation is ‘arfter’ and ‘parst’.

Now don’t get me wrong, these are very good newscasters. But are there no jobs for them in Manchester or Yorkshire?

Let’s be honest, we never took to Harry Gration like we did Bruce Parker.

We are slowly losing our local accents and dialects though, so maybe that’s the way forward.

I’d be delighted to hear ‘gud mournin’ eer is yer local noos’ in a Hampshire burr.
