Here’s a societal dilemma. A stranger is walking down the street engrossed in his or her mobile phone.
Is it your job to sidestep and offer them safe passage, or do you keep your course?
In the old days, we’d all have the decency and mutual respect to check each other’s trajectory and adjust accordingly. Those days have sadly disappeared.
The ‘head down, up yours’ approach is now commonplace for walkers, joggers and even cyclists.
I say ‘hold your line Britain!’ A Facebooking sprat, scrabbling around for their phone on the floor after impact, may learn a valuable lesson. But at least they’ll have something interesting to put on their status.
