At least the pump price rise means less moped menaces

COMMENT: All agencies must to held to account for Anne Savidge’s tragic death

Have your say

Every cloud has a silver lining as far as I’m concerned. So even something as dire as the petrol price crisis has a plus side – if you know where to look.

You might find the frequency of your own trips to your local service station alarming, especially if you’re now on first-name terms with the staff. But the good news is there are fewer of those annoying mopeds on the road.

Teenage boys clearly don’t have the income to fill up their tanks and as a result I’m definitely seeing less of the little menaces.

It’s possible for whole weeks to go by without seeing them ride three abreast, or turning round to chat to each other as they weave in and out. And I can’t remember the last time I heard the unmistakable drone of a pack approaching. Bonus.
