At least they’re listening and altering unpopular decisions

COMMENT: Bandstand event is a victim of its own success

Have your say

So the government made another U-turn this week over the comical ‘pasty tax’.

I heard a political commentator remark how Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady, would rather have melted than done a U-turn in the 1980s.

‘You have to see policy through’ she said.

But I’ve got a different opinion. You see, it’s a different world today. We desire clearer communication and want to be heard.

Thought through badly or not, at least they’re listening and altering unpopular decisions.

Maybe if Maggie had been less bloody-minded with the poll tax in 1990, she could have handed the reins to someone of her choosing.
