While it’s not clear whether Charles Dickens and chick-lit author Sophie Kinsella would have much in common, they’ve both got a part to play in a book giveaway scheme designed to get the country reading.

World Book Night takes place on April 23 and the organisers need people to come forward to volunteer ( by Wednesday.

Those taking part will get 24 copies of a book they’ve chosen from a pre-approved list to give away to others.

And the beauty of this scheme lies precisely in the fact that Dickens and Kinsella have both made it on to that list.

Whether you like classics or comedy tales about shoe shopping, there’s something for everyone, so get involved.
