Beware of ‘bargains’ that are often not what they seem

COMMENT: The return of good weather shouldn’t bring dread

Have your say

I was interested to see that Tesco was fined £300,000 this week after selling strawberries in a false deal back in 2011.

It has taken that long for the case to come to fruition – excuse the pun – after a pensioner noticed that the strawberries had been at the cheaper price for far longer than they were at the more expensive one, breaking the rules.

We need more pensioners out there crying foul. It annoys me so much to see prices bandied about as being, for example, ‘roll back’, when they’re clearly more expensive than I was paying a month or so before.

We should all be careful of the insincerity of pricing and watch which ‘bargains’ we’re so quickly paying for.

Because they’re often not what they seem.
