Cautious optimism is what should greet the news that South Parade Pier has been sold and will be developed.
I for one am very interested in the idea of the ferry which may – seemingly – connect the pier and Gunwharf.
Perhaps it could come across the water too and connect with Gosport?
Recently I went on the toll ferry at Sandbanks. Me, the car, four passengers and a dog.
Between us it cost a mere £3.50, whereas the current Gosport Ferry costs a whopping £2.90 per adult (yes, that’s a return, but the maths isn’t hard to see how expensive it is to cross Portsmouth Harbour).
But I digress, just like I hope the pier ferry will, right over to my side of the harbour.
