I’ve been following the Aysha King story with great interest.

His parents, Brett and Nagemeh, had their reasons to take Aysha to Spain and the doctors at Southampton General Hospital had their views on his care.

But at the end of the day, I believe it’s the parents who should be able to decide what is best for their child.

The way the authorities responded seems very heavy-handed and it really shouldn’t have taken such strong public opinion to resolve the issue.

But despite what’s happened, I hope it doesn’t cloud the fact that we’re very fortunate to have such a fantastic health service in this country.

It’s still the the envy of the world.
