CHERYL GIBBS: Spending a manic Mothers' Day in the spring sunshine

Who had a wonderful time last weekend? Wasn't the weather just spectacular?

When the sun is shining, it makes all the difference to how I feel.

Last weekend, although it was a manic one, what with Mothers’ Day and all, I had a brilliant time enjoying the fruits of what we have here in the south. And it was made all the more enjoyable by the glorious weather.

I hear it’s set to be another blinder this weekend, so put those brollies away and dust off your flip-flops. As you can tell, I am so excited!

Last weekend I reckon we must have done a few hundred miles. On Friday I drove from work in Southampton back home to Clanfield, then jumped back in the car and headed to Southsea so we could pick up a takeaway from Noble House in Osborne Road (even Albert the owner was rather surprised by how far we’d come).

Saturday was spent walking around Southsea with my sister and her daughter, Sienna, where we enjoyed a beautiful lunch at the Southsea Beach Café, with views across to the isle of Wight.

Then Sunday went like this.

I started the day by dropping hubby Matt off to see his stepmum, Sue, in Cowplain and I headed to meet my mum for a coffee.

I was under strict instructions from my older sister, Jo, not to drop her round there late, so we necked a coffee and a teacake and I dropped her to Waterlooville.

From here I stopped quickly to pick up Matt and say hello to Sue before driving to Hilsea to pick up Matt’s mum.

Then we went to the Tenth Hole in Southsea for brunch. Amazingly it wasn’t rammed like usual and we got seated within about two minutes.

After dropping Matt’s mum back in Hilsea, I drove to visit my auntie in Clanfield. We always see her on Mothers’ Day because my auntie and uncle played such a big role when we were growing up.

From here we drove to Petersfield to get a spot of food shopping before coming home to Clanfield, then picking up my mum and taking her to Osborne View in Lee-on-the-Solent.And you thought you had a manic weekend?

WILL BABY BE CALLED ALFIE, OR SOMETHING MORE UNUSUAL?

Despite not commenting on her pregnancy, there is no denying it now.

Yep, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has given birth to a baby boy with her toyboy beau Liam Payne from One Direction.

In true celebrity style, the couple have yet to confirm the name of their new bubba and bookies around the country are, of course, taking bets on what the little munchkin will be called.

Apparently, Alfie is top of the list. But I think it will be something a little more exotic for Cheryl and Liam.

With the circles they mix in, I would envisage something unusual.

Will they follow in the footsteps of Beyonce and Jay Z or the Kardashian-Wests, who all have strange names for their kids such as Blue Ivy and North?

LOOKING FORWARD TO A STAY AT THE ISLAND’S ENCHANTED MANOR

In a couple of weeks’ time, Matt and I are off to the Isle of Wight to once again visit the Enchanted Manor.

We’ve stayed in the most incredible places all over the world, but never stayed in touch with any owners apart from Maggie and Ric, who run this boutique Victorian manor house.

That’s because they are the most wonderful people and their quirkiness is what makes this place so special – that and the decor!

I really do recommend that you try it for yourselves.

Only then will you truly understand what I’m on about.

If you fancy heading over for an evening of fun-filled entertainment (and trust me it will be with these two at the helm), there is a murder mystery night on Saturday April 27.
