I got into a bit of trouble on the radio this week. As we know, Southampton is the UK’s premier cruise port – and Portsmouth is very much up-and-coming too.
But now Liverpool is hoping to use public money to build bigger facilities and take a massive slice of cruise business away from the south coast.
Wanting all our cruise ships to stay here, I may have mentioned the fact that I doubt cruise operators would be happy to leave their ships overnight in Liverpool.
I did go on to mention that they would worry about returning the next morning to find their ship on bricks.
As a result I had two complaints from former Liverpool residents. With tongue in cheek, I apologised.
