BLAISE TAPP: The lifelong influence of our classroom leaders

Have your say

People always seem to be moaning about Portsmouth City Council these days.

But I’d like to give them a huge round of applause for their brilliant free children’s activities put on in the city centre every week during the school holidays.

I was passing by one lunchtime and was immediately enthralled by the street circus Rum-Ba-Ba.

I couldn’t resist joining in with some very enthusiastic performers for a bit of clowning around.

I ended up being taught some stilt-walking (not easy in four-inch heels, I can tell you!), plus plate-spinning (don’t try this at home kids) and diablo-juggling.

All the children, and the adults among us who still want to act like big kids, loved it.
