The Alver Valley is one of my favourite places in Gosport. Born from old rubbish, this is a 500-acre site and dog walkers’ paradise.
Hills of manageable height and fabulous views are connected by woody walks, riverside walks and open walks.
From beautiful old trees to what looks like Serengeti grasses, the valley is stunning and, if you’re looking for somewhere to amble for an hour or so, I highly recommend it.
Don’t be afraid of getting lost, that’s half the joy of the location. You can’t go that far wrong anyway, Lee-on-the-Solent is one side, Gosport the other. But please don’t feed the ducks as not only is bread bad for them, my dog loves it too and I spend hours trying to fish him out of the river.
