Dismaland – where dreams of wet summers do come true

Have your say

Ah Banksy. I’m sure I served him in a pub I worked in as a student in Bristol in 1999, and I’ve used one of his pieces of art to go to the toilet.

The art world has gone a bit crazy for his dystopian theme park Dismaland, featuring the kind of artists and sculptors that has your mum looking bemused.

It’s in an abandoned lido in Weston-Super-Mare, which boasts the kind of pier Portsmouth can only dream about.

Banksy says he chose Weston because of fond childhood memories. I’d say it’s because there’s nothing more dismal than a seaside town during an under-par summer.

The best thing about it is the price – £3 to see world-class art in a place that makes The Village in The Prisoner look positively pedestrian.
