Documentary on Kate’s past was too off-key for my taste

Allowing royalty to marry a commoner means Prince William can choose his bride.

With a privileged upbringing, Kate Middleton descends from north east miners and solicitors, as pointed out in that slightly embarrassing documentary on Channel 4 earlier this week.

At times it felt like the makers were poking fun at her distant relatives, especially with the use of off-key comedy music. And did they really need to use grey filters on the camera lens to make the skies darker?

Maybe there would be no Wills and Kate wedding if Prince Charles had been allowed to marry a commoner. No doubt Camilla would have been his original bride, given the choice.
