Have your say

I can thoroughly recommend driving to the South of France. But can I also recommend you don’t drive back on the first day of the school summer holidays.

Nightmare! Two hundred miles of slow traffic between Marseilles and Lyon meant we missed our overnight ferry from Caen. Leaving Cannes at 10am gave us plenty of time for the 11pm departure – or so we thought.

So we headed for Calais and, £32 later, boarded the 1:50am ferry back to Blighty. We arrived home at 5am!

I was happy though, as the ferry was P&O’s newest ship, Spirit of Britain. But my other half was definitely not excited as she tried to sleep in a lounge full of excited teenagers bouncing off the seats.
