Now the weather seems to be turning for the better – or at least pretending to – my thoughts are turning more towards salad and less towards soup.

The trouble is with trying to eat healthily – and the same is true if you want to make your own soups – is that vegetables seem to be so very, very expensive.

Weekly earnings have apparently caught up with inflation for the first time in six years, according to the Office for National Statistics.

But that means there are still six years of discrepancies to make up for, and I for one still struggle with the amount of money fruit and veg seem to cost these days.

One thing’s for sure though – it’s still cheaper than living on takeaways three times a day, regardless of what anyone says.
