Fingers crossed we see some benefit of Sport England cash

COMMENT: Attraction will capitalise on the riches in our midst

Have your say

I was very disappointed that Portsmouth lost out as Nottingham was named Sport England’s City of Football.

It would have given the city some much-needed cash to develop an indoor facility for youngsters to play football, get active and get engaged in their community.

We’re quite good at banging our drum about football in this area – fans owning Portsmouth Football Club, raising more than £250,000 to build two new training pitches for the academy, bringing training as a whole back into the city for the first time in decades…the list goes on.

Perhaps we were too high profile. But Sport England still wants to work with Pompey In The Community on some of its projects, so fingers crossed the kids see some benefit.
