First drive down bus highway has convinced me it will work

COMMENT: Cameras have become part and parcel of everyday life

Have your say

We got our first drive down the Gosport/Fareham BRT route on Tuesday.

Fourteen brand new Volvo buses will link the two towns.

And it was with much excitement when we took a right turn off Redlands Lane and started the drive down.

It’s such an unusual scene. A long, straight road ahead of you, not one bend to negotiate.

With the new bus lane opening on April 22, I have no doubt it will be a success in reducing bus journey times and increasing cyclist safety.

At 8am, the Fort Brockhurst to Fareham stretch of the A32 can take up to an hour to drive.

The bus will take 15 minutes no matter how heavy the traffic. Food for thought.
