Have your say

According to new research, mentioning certain television programmes at work will not just win friends, but also influence people, resulting in a fast-tracked promotion.

So much so, that one in five of us are prepared to fake our knowledge of these shows to create a good impression.

Here’s a quick guide to the things on TV that you should mention and shouldn’t mention at work if you want to get on.

DO MENTION that you enjoyed seeing Alan Sugar on The Apprentice.

DON’T MENTION that you enjoyed seeing your brother on Jeremy Kyle.

DO MENTION that you watch intellectual films like A Clockwork Orange on BBC4.

DON’T MENTION that you watch Keith Lemon Celebrity Juice on ITV2.
