Hard work of volunteers is so important behind the scenes

Have your say

I’ve realised in the past month just how important volunteers are.

At the Kings Theatre there are many volunteers from all walks of life and they are a vital part of the whole operation.

They range from the ladies who come in and stuff brochures into envelopes to the folks that help to restore this magnificent building to its former glory.

While I was in the panto, I got to meet the backstage volunteers and witness first-hand the blood, sweat and tears they put in to bring a production to life.

One of them, Nikki Laing, worked a staggering 43 out of 45 pantos, clocking up more than 300 hours. That’s dedication.

Nikki and volunteers everywhere, you are true stars and I salute you.
