Credit where it’s due. After the outrage over Emirates’s plan to paint the Spinnaker Tower red and white, council leader Donna Jones quickly did a U-Turn and asked residents for their own plan.
I’m not sure why someone at the council didn’t pipe up and say the red and white paint job would be a hard sell to a blue city. Maybe they did and just weren’t heard.
As I write the tower’s new strip is about to be announced and I hope it’s less garish (and less Southampton FC) than previously.
The council also announced it will let cars use the bottom of the bus lane on the M275 to try to relieve congestion. It’s refreshing to have a council that can admit its mistakes and mitigate them, rather than doggedly forcing them through.
