Husband’s low-slung car has meant I’ve missed Bookfest

Don't worry children, it won't hurt a bit...

CLIVE SMITH: Third World War fears from the internet generation

Have your say

The Portsmouth Bookfest is now in full swing, much to my annoyance, as I’m typing this while lying horizontal.

My back decided to rebel against the way I got out of my husband’s low-slung car the other day.

I say low-slung, which makes it sound all exotic, but actually it’s a Ford Focus. It’s lower-slung than my car though.

Anyway, as a result I’m missing loads of the authors who I wanted to go and see at libraries in Portsmouth city centre and Southsea.

As well as the big name authors for Bookfest, the library performers are selected from local talent and they are on at 12.30pm each day for 12 minutes.

They’re well worth a listen – if you can get out of bed, that is!
