We drove two hours north from the Gold Coast to go and visit Steve Irwin’s zoo.
I was always such a massive fan of his when growing up and admired him for his passion and dedication to wildlife.
His stereotypical Aussie ‘over-the-top’ personality went down a storm in the UK and the USA and I for one certainly think the world is a lesser place without him.
Thankfully a team at the zoo continues his legacy and Steve’s presence is felt as you walk around. He’s everywhere.
They talk about him during the big lunchtime show, there are pictures, messages and even a memorial section that shows in pictures his life and accomplishments.
I admit to shedding a few tears as I thought of him.
