I could have stayed in a hotel, but I wanted to come home

Have your say

I’ve been in London this week filming for the new documentary about the Duchess of Cambridge that I’m producing/directing.

Because we were doing three longs days, the production company booked everyone into hotels for the two nights.

But when it became apparent on the first day of the shoot that we’d be finishing at a relatively good time, I opted to ditch the hotel and come home instead. How sad does that make me?

Instead of staying in a fancy hotel and having dinner and drinks paid for, I decided to add an extra four hours to my already busy schedule just so I could get back to Portsmouth.

The homesickness I felt at school (my mum and dad had to come and get me) clearly hasn’t gone away...
