I’d rather face A32 jams than white knuckle Solent crossing

Have your say

As I rolled across the harbour on the Gosport ferry, I watched a Brittany ferry leave for France and thought of the poor souls on board.

Imagine working in the kitchen of a cross-Channel ferry, with seas reaching almost 20 feet in height recently.

I also watched a hovercraft almost disappear under torrents of spray and the weather got so bad that even Wightlink’s largest car ferry had to run to the International Ferry Port for shelter.

I used to commute to and from the island and I can safely say I’d prefer negotating the congested A32 at 8am any day to the white knuckle ride across the Solent when the gales are really blowing hard.
