I really need to stop drinking. It seems that a glass of wine or two with my friends gets me over-enthusiastic and signing up for all sorts of stuff.
Last year it was a triathlon, which I’ve yet to complete, and which some readers of this column won’t let me forget about.
This year I seem to have volunteered to run another half-marathon, this time in March, when my running shoes just want to hibernate.
I suppose, though, as well as planning next year’s holidays and visits to friends and far-flung family, it’s also good to get a couple of fitness challenges in the diary.
The trouble is, it may mean a month off the sauce, back on the protein and running in the cold, cold air.
Still, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, eh?
