I hope the Post Office can stretch to cost of red bands

Have your say

I’ve been reading about the cost of the infamous red rubber band to the Post Office. Apparently, well over £2,000 a day is spent on fastening packets of mail together – and then all that rubber is dropped in the streets.

Personally, I quite like the red rubber bands and have a habit of picking them up. Although I’m aghast if the children pick up random items of interest from the mean streets, I make exception for rubber bands.

They’re good quality and of a decent enough size to come in useful (unlike those minuscule ones you get in multi-bags, the only purpose of which appears to be tangling up Barbie’s hair).

I’m not one to advocate littering, but for once I’m on the side of the perpetrator. Long live the red rubber band.
