How wonderful that VisitBritain, the quango in charge of boosting tourism in our country, has set its sights on Portsmouth.
Its target is the French and encouraging more of them to come over to Britain and take a look at what our area has to offer.
Stonehenge was mentioned as a destination that doesn’t have much exposure across the channel, as was the New Forest where ponies roam free and the windy streets in the villages are chockablock with excellent boutiques and independent shops.
It reminds me I should perhaps do my own VisitBritain and explore these places more. The last time I was in the forest it was summer and I was about to run 10 miles.
I thought at the time I should go back, but life gets in the way and I didn’t.
