Have your say

After all the training, a childhood dream finally came true last week.

Funny how a radio presenter in his late 30s can get so excited about taking a bus out in service, but I did.

In my teens this is all I wanted to do when I grew up and I suppose a bit of that has stayed with me.

So after taking a Number 80 to Southampton and back, plus driving a brand new E1 Eclipse bus down the new BRT route between Fareham and Gosport, I’ve learned how difficult a bus driver’s job is.

The concentration needed to drive a big vehicle and the responsibility of your passengers’ safety is something I’d never really realised before.

I was knackered afterwards, as I sat in my studio playing records!
