I think I’ll just get round so I don’t miss beer and puddings

COMMENT: Health plan worth trying as we can’t go on like this

I’m proud to say that I’ll be making my first start in the Great South Run this

autumn, running for the Portsmouth Down Syndrome charity Footprints.

It’s assembled a giant team of 150 runners (easier to hide), to get on the good foot and raise money for a fantastic charity that genuinely changes the children’s and their families’ lives.

Of course, saying yes to a challenge of this magnitude in April is easily done – October 27 is a lifetime away.

I’ve got exactly six months to shift a few stone, take my fitness to a new level and get amongst the elite athletes.

Alternatively, I could be happy with just completing the race knowing that I didn’t miss a single sausage/beer/pudding over the summer.
