LESLEY KEATING: A white-knuckle pursuit ending with a lesson in trust

Have your say

We’re always moaning about the price of fuel, but I think it’s extraordinarily good value for money.

Oil is drilled in Saudi Arabia, transported to the UK and refined to make petrol for just £1.30 a litre.

Last week I stopped at Rownhams services on the M27 and paid £2.89 for a 340ml cup of coffee.

Actually, most of it was hot water.

Why don’t we complain about that? They’re both luxury items when you think about it.

The process of making fuel for our vehicles is mind-blowing. We just take it all for granted.

Imagine how expensive it would be if Costa produced our petrol!
