So Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has been arrested as part of a Northern Irelend police investigation into a murder in 1972.

It’s brought back to me what going to London was like during The Troubles.

From frivolous things rooted in very serious causes, like not being able to throw anything away because there were no bins on the streets, to watching out for bags being left unattended on the Tube, you knew you had to be aware.

Of course I was only young at the time. But it was still there in the back of your mind.

They were terrible times, and I can’t begin to understand what life was like across the Irish Sea for those properly living through it.

Let’s never return to those days.
