Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide – manslaughter to you and me – for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
It happened on St Valentine’s Day 2013, and seemed like no time at all since we watched the double amputee, taking part in the 400m with able-bodied athletes.
He held the world in the palm of his hand and we were looking forward to seeing him at the World Championships.
But how quickly things changed. Now he’s a convicted killer, guilty of killing his girlfriend by mistaking her for an intruder.
In an instant everything can change – from good to bad and, crucially, from bad to good. It only takes a second, a minute, a day, but change it does. I just hope the Steenkamps can now move on and mourn Reeva.
