LESLEY KEATING: A white-knuckle pursuit ending with a lesson in trust

Have your say

The day before George Clooney was arrested in a demonstration calling for action against human rights abuses in Sudan, I watched The Ides Of March, a recent movie in which he plays a contender to become US president.

I was interested to see that he was also credited as writer of the script, especially as the politics in the film are very specific, including views of the death penalty and the war on terror.

He’s a political beast is our George, but sadly he’s announced that he doesn’t want to run for office in real life.

He won’t be following in the shoes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan.

What a shame, because if he did I’d happily vote for him based on looks alone.
