Jez: Dishwasher fixed with baking powder and vinegar

Child refugees: more cash is needed from the government

COMMENT: Government needs to dig deep to find extra cash

Have your say

Last week I carried out an amazing piece of DIY work and managed to give my defunct dishwasher a new lease of life.

It’s about 12 years old and had suddenly stopped draining water away.

I decided not to rush into spending hundreds on a replacement and instead I went online to try and work out what the problem was.

I found an American chap on YouTube who advised mixing baking powder with vinegar and pouring this fizzy mixture into the pool of water inside the machine.

I thought I might as well give it a go and after about half-an-hour I returned to the dishwasher and opened the door.

I was stunned to discover it had drained all the water away and appeared to have fixed the problem!
