Jez: I could happily tuck into a roast dinner every night

Nostalgia in the attic

RICK JACKSON: Lofty ambitions dashed by memories

Have your say

On our show we’ve been talking about a Mexican woman who has just turned 127 and is now officially the oldest person in the world.

Apparently her top tip for a long life is to eat lots of chocolate!

If I had to eat one type of food for 127 years, my choice would be roast dinners. I’d happily tuck in every night.

I also think a home-cooked roast is a healthy meal.

You have the vegetables, the potatoes and the meaty goodness of the gravy.

Obviously the roast potatoes must be crispy on the outside and lovely and fluffy on the inside.

My top tip is to boil them for 20 minutes, then lightly sprinkle with flour before placing them in very hot oil, where they instantly crisp up.
