The Leveson Inquiry continues to lift some damp and deeply rotten logs, revealing a multitude of squirming creatures.
The latest is Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt.
David Cameron removed Vince Cable from taking the decision over News Corp’s bid for BSkyB, after the crusty old blighter had made clear his antipathy towards the Murdochs.
As his was a quasi-judicial role, it therefore made an impartial decision impossible.
So the PM passed the responsibility to Hunt – despite the fact that he had made clear his support of BSkyB’s bid in a memo just a month earlier.
After this, Labour will surely never have a better opportunity of skewering the Tories.
