Lawyers making a huge difference to hospices

Naomi House and Jacksplace, near Winchester, are hospices for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

With less than 10 per cent of income coming from the government and other statutory bodies, it relies on the generosity of the local community to continue its work.

Inspired by this, Coffin Mew, which has offices in Gosport and Portsmouth, has spent the past year-and-a-half hosting charitable activities to benefit Naomi House and Jacksplace.

Just one quiz for local businesses netted more than £2,000.

The firm also ran a netball tournament, office tuck shop and a concert.

They even held a partners’ breakfast, where Coffin Mew’s partners cooked for their employees.

Charlotte Otter, trusts and major gifts fundraiser at Naomi House, said: ‘Working with Coffin Mew is a stand-out example of how a charity partnership can and should look.

‘The team at Coffin Mew take the time to get under the skin of Naomi House and Jacksplace, to understand everything about our charity, and to provide a tailored package of support that makes a huge difference to hundreds of children, young people and families from across the south.
