The council elections are coming up in May. As usual, the Lib Dems are first off the mark with a survey and first-class election address.
I have much admiration for caring, hard-working Lib Dem councillors like Terry Hall in Portsmouth.
But the party has some very difficult questions to answer. Dog poo (the biggest single issue bothering constituents ‘on the doorstep’) is not the only bad smell.
There’s also the odour left by Clegg and his Lib Dems leadership in abandoning principles and any right to call themselves democrats after what’s happened with the coalition.
Lib Dem councillors in Portsmouth and everywhere else had better prepare themselves for a rough ride in the local elections.
