The event helps Rotary to raise hundreds of pounds for local charities.

Over a two-week period last December we had the pleasure of hearing four local schools on separate days.

These were Mayville High School (many thanks to Rachael), Flying Bull Academy (many thanks to Ann), St John’s Cathedral Catholic Primary (many thanks Hayley) and Crookhorn College (many thanks David), all of whom sang beautifully. Each of them different and distinctive, but each providing that wonderful sound for that time of year especially
– that of young people singing in harmony and with gusto.

All of the children and teachers were a real pleasure and wonderful representatives of their schools.

There was also a fifth performance with the Rotary choir in association with tenor Simon Long (many thanks Simon) and his Fine Voice Academy singers drawn from his soloists and various choirs, singing groups, plus some Rotarians, – not exactly the youngest in age but we are all children at heart at that time of year.

As a special treat two very special guests in the form of a couple of snowmen came by to say hello to all the younger people and their parents/grandparents.

Christmas in a nutshell: children, singing, helping good causes, having a fun time.

Finally all this comes with a big thank you to the management team at Cascades, especially Rhoda and Kuljinder, for all their help and support in enabling this to take place. plus their customer service operatives (thank you to Jordan and Alan).

Oh, forgot to say, how did we do towards our target of £500?

Well, yes, a fantastic total of £550 was achieved.

So to all the four schools, to the Rotary choir and
to Cascades, very many thanks.

Because of you all a local charity will benefit from this donation.

Mind you, if I then started to remind people that we will be doing it all again in about 37 weeks time, is that too soon?

Please, don’t shout!
