Look out - I’m getting behind the wheel of a 36ft-long bus

It’s important the parade continues – but safely

Have your say

I’ve just had to have a medical and it’s all because I’m planning to get behind the wheel of a 36ft-long bus.

I’m taking my first steps towards a PCV test so that I can be allowed to drive the very first bus on the new BRT route between Gosport and Fareham when it opens in May. How cool is that?

What many people don’t realise is what you have to go through to pass this test.

There are three weeks of intensive driving, along with tests on theory and safety.

You should see my homework. I looked like an Oxford University student when I left the First Bus depot.

I’m doing all my training from Hoeford at Fareham, but I have to do it in my spare time. I’ll warn you whenever I’m out on the roads!
